Build a Menu That Sells
Set up items, categories, item options, modifiers and service menus, import a menu with AI, and keep availability current with the 86 Board.

Your menu drives your ordering page, the Terminal app, kitchen tickets, the AI Manager and what AI assistants say about you. This guide is for whoever builds and maintains it.
Where to find it
- Go to Sidebar › MENU: Menu Items, Categories, Item Options, Modifiers and Service Menus.
- To start fast, choose Import with AI on Menu Items and drop in your menu as a PDF, photos or a file. Review what it found, then import.
- Create Item Options and Modifiers groups once, then link them to every item that uses them.
- Use Service Menus for menus by time of day, such as Breakfast or Happy Hour.
Good to know
- Item Options are what an item is — versions with their own prices, such as sizes. Modifiers are what a guest adds — toppings, sauces, extra cheese.
- Sold out? Switch it off on the 86 Board, or the Stock tab in the staff app. Guests can't order it until you turn it back on.
- Deleting an item archives it and keeps its order history; restore it from Archived on the Menu Items page.
- Categories in a service menu show only during its hours; categories in no menu show all the time.
- Use names guests would search for, and put key ingredients and dietary notes in descriptions — guests and AI assistants read them. See Get Found by AI Assistants.
If something's not working
- An item not showing? Check that it isn't 86'd or archived, that its category is shown on your website, and that its category isn't in a service menu outside its hours.
