Integrations, API, and Open Access
Connect external tools, build custom workflows, and keep your restaurant data accessible over time.
OpenPOS is built to be more open than traditional restaurant platforms. That means developers, partners, and future tools can integrate with your business more easily, while your team keeps control over the systems that matter most.
What is accessible by default
Public store information can be made available in a structured way so external tools and services can understand your business more easily, including:
- Store name, address, phone, and hours
- Menu structure, items, categories, and prices
- Variations and modifiers
- Current item availability
- Available services such as pickup, delivery, or catering
This helps OpenPOS support richer storefronts, integrations, and future AI-powered experiences.
What requires authentication
Actions that modify your business — such as placing orders, updating inventory, or managing staff — require authenticated access. That keeps operational control where it belongs while still allowing more open data access where appropriate.
Getting an API key
- Go to Settings > API.
- Generate an API key.
- Store it securely.
- Use it for authenticated API requests.
If you are connecting in-store hardware such as terminals or kiosks, device tokens can be used instead of general API keys.
What you can build
With OpenPOS integrations and APIs, developers and partners can:
- Build custom ordering flows or kiosks
- Connect delivery and logistics tools
- Sync data into accounting or analytics systems
- Create custom dashboards
- Build AI-powered workflows and assistants
- Extend store operations with new tools over time
Documentation
API documentation is available at /api/docs on your OpenPOS instance and stays up to date with the product.
Why this matters
Many restaurant platforms treat business data as something to lock down. OpenPOS takes a different approach: your business should be easier to access, easier to integrate, and easier to build on over time. That is what makes the platform more flexible for restaurants, developers, agencies, and future AI-powered workflows.
